Icurphy, Port Moody staff are prepared to recommend to their Council that thi payment te approved, and he was hopeful that the same arrangement could te made with the City to see them to the end of the S I I I I I I current Contract whictI expires next summer. I I I'1! III In 1988, 521.9 tonnes of newspaper were collected fron: Port Coquitlam households. The first three r.,onths of 1989 have seen a 19 percent increase over the same period la t year. SHARE projects that 600 tonnes will tx. collected in 1989, an increase of 15 percent over 1988. At $ 33 per tonne, the cost of the subsidy would b $ 19,800 for 600 tonnes. I Jl Ill Ill I'I I I SHARE is experiencing with the curbside collection of newspaper in the City. Inr. Nurphy presentedr statistics on the quantity of newspaper collected as well as a budget forecast for the fiscal period April 1989 to tlarch 1990. This budget assumes that the market price of newspaper will not climb stove the guaranteed minimum of $ 40 per tonne that International Paper has agreed to pay SHARE, and projects a total deficit, not accounting for administrative costs, of $25,301 for the period. He indicated that to cover this deficit a payment of f33 per tonne of newspaper collected would be required. II1! SS I! ~ I Hr. A 50-50 split was suggested, and it was determined that a report should be presented to Council, In Committee, recommending that the above be approved. The advertisement of the proclamation of PCCO PRIDE DAYS has been placec. is scheduled for 7r30 p.m., April 25, at the Coquitlam Library to discuss the Air Emissions Permit for the Burrard Thermal Generating Plant. The GVRD plans to make a presentation to Council on ttay 15th with the respect to the recycling study being undertaken by NcLaren Engineering on behalf of the GVRD.
