Mum wins family feud THE TENNIS club’s Junior- senior doubles tournament saw 4 few all-in-the-family battles. and in the one for top spot it proved to be mother’s day, Partnered by junior Les Van- Halderen, Ada Sarsiat beat out both her son and husband in win- ning the six-game round robin event held Saturday, July 16. _ VanHalderen and Sarsiat fin- ished with a perfect record, in- cluding two overpowering 6-0 performances but were taken lo 6-4 scores on a couple of occa- sions. Jonathan Sarsiai and Kelly Robinson squeezed second, a bet- | ‘ter win-loss difference just being enough to deny Brooks Robinson and David Sarsiat the runner up Spot, Each finished with 4-2 records and in both cases their losses were only by two game margins. There were 14 competitors in the event, organized by Nancy Condon and the Terrace Tennis club helped out by providing Iun- ches and snacks, , THE CONDITIONS, cold and wet, were hardly ideal, but they didn’t stop Tyler Gibson. One of the those who braved the elements to take part in the July 16-17 Skeena Valley Junior Golf Cpen, Gibson came away with the boys overall low grass title. And completing the sweep by home course golfers were Scott Rigler (boys overall low nel), Kara DeJong (girls overall low gross) and Tanya McNee (girls overall low net. The event marked the last Open event of the season but Skeena Valley members get one more tourney when club championships are decided. This year will be the 14th year that the Memorial race will be run at Terrace Speedway. The first Memorial race was run in 1975 in memory of two racers that died in an accident while returning from out of town races. Each year since then the Terrace Stock Car Association has run a special 50 lap race in memory of those racers ‘and club members that have passed away. As a racer, this is one of the most prestigious awards you can win at Terrace Speedway and one that each racer hopes to win. | NEXT RACES JULY 30 & 31 MEMORIAL RACE DAYS aA McElhanney Environmental Engineering Services for: M@ Water / Wastewater Treatment & Environmental 1 Contaminated Site Rehabilitation © Assessments @ Solid, Waste and Audits Contact: Patrick A.
