Held meeting with five press workers and $45 turned _in, five Press Builder pledges made. Up early Saturday, ate big break- fast, went. out visiting readers’ of the PT. Wonder- ful response, paper very popular. Ev- ery reader made a donation to the drive. subs obtained as well as renewals. Took time out for a steak din- ner, prepared by a bachelor. ‘Much better than my husband’s cooking — or my own. ‘ Spent evening meeting more peo- ple, and collecting donations. Cash results for the day, $100. Sunday morning, off on my rounds again. That afternoon, a meeting with five readers, who donated $25, took drive collection cards. Total collection for day, $85. aie Caught plane back to Vancouver at 6 p.m. Expenses of trip, $19.80. Total collected for drive, $229. * x * . F IVE construction workers met in a private home in Powell River on Sunday this week to discuss the Pacific Tribune’s financial drive with Rita Whyte, business manager of the paper. “We've got to keep this paper going, boys,’ Propose we dig into our pockets and fork over $5 each as a starter.”’ This was done. ‘Now let’s see what we can do to collect money from our mates on the job,”’ suggested another. “Have you got some PT collection cards, Rita ?”’ Rita had.
