City Engineer SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT - CONSTRUCTION OF LEFT TURN LANE LOUGHEED HIGHWAY AT COAST MERIDIAN ROAD (Public Works Commitee Meeting of October 25, 1994 That Council award the contract for the construction of a left turn lane extension on Lougheed Highway and Coast Meridian Road to Jack Cewe Ltd. at the tendered price of $92,538.95 (including G.S.T.). That Council allocate an additional $91,124 from the Roads DCC Fund plus $1,415 from the 1994 Public Works Capital Fund for this purpose (see attached cost summary). This 1994 Public Works Capital Project involves the construction of a 150 metre extension to the existing left tum lane on Lougheed Highway at Coast Meridian Road for east bound traffic turing north as shwon on the attached Plan 1. At the June 13, 1994 regular Council meeting, $8,560 was allocated from the Roads DCC Fund for consulting engineering services to design, tender and supervise the construction of the left turn lane extension. As shown in the attached October 21, 1994 letter from Hamilton & Associates (the City’s consultant) four tender packages were picked up and two bids were submitted for this construction work with the lowest bid from Jack Cewe Ltd. at a cost of $92,538.95 (including GST). As Jack Cewe has constructed other projects for the City in the past and the work has been satisfactory it is recommended that Council award this contract to Jack Cewe Ltd. at the tendered price of $92,538.95 {including GST). { .
