Brown Director of Community Planning Rezoning Appiication No. 12/87 Addition to Marathon Site RECOMMENDATION: That City Courct! direct the Clerk's Office to prepare a bylaw rezoning the north-east 2.83 hectares (7 acres) of Lot 83 trom M=-2 TO C~2.6 COMMENTS: This application fs to expand the shopping mal | proposed on the Marathon Property, Lot 82, to include a portion of Lot 83. The proposed use jis stil] commercial, but is reoriented towards a more specialized market, home improvements. Design and placement of buildings on the site are similar to the earlier proposal. Changes to the buildings are to increase their floor space due to the nature of products being sold. The character of the site development will retain the same style as the previous building scheme. The basic issues dealt With in the eartier Proposal are stilt the major considerations, traffic and urban design. Solutions to the afore mentioned problems follow the same approach as used before. In conclusion, an approval in principle for this addition to the Marathon site is proposed, to permit the Clerk's Office to proceed to prepare a rezoning bylaw and to provide the applicant with assurance to proceed and have engineering work carried out.
