Approximately 8,000 schoac! children will be assembled along the route in order to support the tour. The concern of the various school principals for the safety of these schoo! children while assembied on the streets has prompted the request for closure of the above streets to traffic. The Public Works Committee considered this request and supports the concept of the road closure for safety reasons. However, as this occurs during the morning peak hour, it is expected that there will be considerable disruption to traffic. To ensure no traffic enters the closed streets, barricades will have to be placed at al! the intersections as shown on the attached sketch. in addition, the other end of each block of the intersecting streets will have to be marked for local} traffic only and this will require another barricade and sign at each location shown.
