THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM “= COUNCIL B. Kirk, AUG 13 198@ugust 8, 1984 City Administrator F.E. Peters., P. Eng., City Engineer Ditch south of Suffolk Avenue on Oxford Street RECOMMENDATION: That the filling of the ditch south of Suffolk Avenue on Oxford Street be deleted from the 1984 work program and that the completion of Oxford Street, including the filling of the ditch, be considered for the 1985 program. Counci |! will recall that the Initial 1984 works program [neluded the completion of Oxford Street from Westminster to Prairie Avenue. Subsequent to that, the project was reduced in size beceuse of a shortfall in revenue from the Provincial Government. !n reducing the size of the project we deleted the road construction from Coquitiam Avenue south to Westminster Avenue knowing that the worst section of road was north of Coquitlam Avenue. We also included the closure of the ditch south of Suffolk Avenue because we knew that tnis ditch was a potential hazard and a nuisance to the residents. We have now been approached by the residents along this ditch and they have requested that we do not complete the ditch at this time.. A letter from the residents is attached and gives their reasons for not.wanting the ditch done at this time. The Engineering Department has no objections to leaving the ditch open if this is the wish of the residents and Council. We agree with the reasons given vy the residents because their properties are lower Than the road. F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer FEP/sgg Attachment R48
