August 26th, 1974 The Assistant City Engineer suggested that the drainage condition arese beyond Mr. Routley's property and that possibly the works crew did do some work in that area. Mr. Routley advised tht most of the work done this year was on the West side of Oxford Street. The Assistant City Engineer stated he would be re- porting to the Public Works Committee on this matter. The Works & Utilities Superintendent stated that some work was done; however, this particular pro- blem is created by houses built on lots where the surface water used to run over to the next street...now the water cannot g0 anywhere, and until such time as the whole drainage system in that area is re-designed, there is going to be a problem. Alderman Traboulay pointed out that the rainy season will soon be Starting, and expressed concern that nobody is looking after the public works problems of the City. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That Acting-Mayor Alderman Laking and other appropriate City Officials meet with Mr. I.T. Routley tomorrow to at least see what can be done immedia- tely to alleviate the drainage problem in the Coquitlam Avenue-Flint Street- Prairie Avenue-Oxford Street area. Carried, Acting-Mayor Alderman Laking suggested that the meeting be held at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow, and to this Mr. Routley agreed. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: From the City Administrator, August 23rd, 1974, advising that at the last meeting of Council Alderman Mabbett requested that the Public Works Committee make a recommendation regarding parking regulations on McAllister-Whyte-Marpole “Wilson Avenues West of Shaughnessy Street, and that Alderman Thompson, Chairman of the Committee, requested that as an interim measure, a notice be placed on each of the cars parked in front of residents' homes asking the driver's co- operation in using the existing City-owned parking lots and advising that the City does not wish to institute two-hour parking; however, that this will have to be done if co-operaticn is not received, Alderman Mabbett stated he did not agree with the suggestion made in the above-stated report, pointing out that a similar situation arose three years ago on Marpole Avenue when the liquor store was being built, and he proposed the following motion: Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That the standard "2-hour parking - 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m." regulations
