The Northern Lights Music ‘Festival will feature several Canadian acts in an afterncon and evening of. music and dance at the Fall Fair grounds in Smithers, Also on tap for the show are Soul Tribe, a metal-edged, funk groove band from. Ressland,’ - and Tarig Abubakar and The Afronubians, a 10-picce Afri- can dance band from Toronto, The Barenaked Ladies took the country by storm in 1992 with the release of their first album, Gordon, which had several big hits for the band across North America, Songs such as *‘Hello City’’, “Brian Wilson’? and ‘If [ Had a Million Dollars” propelled the band up the music charts and made them a hit at musical festivals around North America. Gordon also earned the band a couple of Juno awards at the annual celebration and recognition of Canadian talent in Toronto. Last year the Barenaked Ladies were one of the biggest draws at festivals and concerts throughout Canada and have continued -that success with their latest release, Maybe You Should Drive. Soul Tribe, an up and com- ing band from the Koolenays, are about to release their sec- ond album.
