The most successful Loggera Bonspiel ever (the
18th Annual) ended at 3 a.m. Tuesday morning with

the presentation of trophies tp the weary curlers.
A total of 72 rinks, half that number from out of

town, competed ‘in this year's Loggers which |

stretched over a full week.

Curling started last Tuesday with some local
curling action. Wednesday the same thing and then
on Thursday they went to it seriously with around
the clock curling.

A blown fuse last Wednesday evening might have
eoded the bonspiel but all it did was move
everything back one draw. With the fuse gone the
ice started to melt, but it was noticed in time to save
the Spiel.

Other than that things went smoothly, including a
social evening on Saturday. While curlers battled it

. Gutat the six sheet Terrace Curling rink, those that

were finished, danced, had fun and relaxed before
heading back to the ice.

There were some close games and some high
scoring games and when it got down to the finals it
seemed they were all close.

The A event final went into extra ends and the |

_ other games in the twos af the events were all close.
Overall winner this year was Rusty Monti of
Kitimat who swept his way to first place in the A

with twelve straight wins and then was awarded the

grand aggregate tophy.

The only Terrace rink to win an event was the

Cliff Sharples foursome who managed to defeat
another Terrace rink, that of Allan Jacques in the C
event final. Allaward winners in the C event in fact
were from Terrace. Terrace rinks also grabbed

three thirds, Rick Olsen on the B, Vern Jacques in

the D event and Gordie Rowe in the F.
First rink out of the ‘spiel was the Kutenics
foursome.
