"Giving a Flreouster Pup to a youngster who is frichtened or injured
can help reduce their fear or trauma and give the child something to
hold on to for security," said Coquitlam Pire Chief Doug Johnson.
"The Pups can help the Firefighter comfort the child and conduct 2 i:
more thorough examination for possible injuries," he said. :

February to initiate the first Canadian "Burn Awareness Week”. The "

children and families learn more about burn prevention. "Buster"

John Jope, Division Manager and Senior Vice-President Canada Safeway, re
said, “Safeway will initially be providing over 1,000 "Buster" Fire ee
Pups to Lower Mainland fire departments." Each Fire Pup includes a rn a
small card outlining 3 basic Fire and burn safety tips for families pe
and children. Safeway stores in Greater Vancouver will also have

"Buster" Fire Pups for sale to the public beginning in December, with

all proceeds to the Fircebuster Pup Program. "Safeway is proud to

join with local firefighters in this worthwhile program," said Jope.
