As an artist/potter, Gary has honed his
skills for Over twenty-seven years. The
work exbibtted in his studio gallery on Salt
Spring Island is a selection of styles that
have been developed through patientstudy
of iraditronal forms and extensive testing.

Gary has exhibited his work for meet of his

public collections in Japan, England, Aus-
tralia and throughout Canada and United
States.

MORE ON CONE 6 GLAZES

[ have many cone 6 glazes in my repertoire
ind continue to expenment with mew reci-
pes. Many of the glazes that [ use are late
bloomers; that 1s, ther usefulness evolves
overtime. | try them underoroverexisting
glazes and over a vanety of different clay
bodies, Often | will work with a alase for
many years before its potential is realized,
Occasronally | have almest been on the
brink of discarding a mixture when an
epiphany tluminates a decisive role for it.
Glares and decoration need to be carried
well by the form of a pot. Thase ideas of
the fusion of plaste and graphic are com-
plex and take time to develop. The moral
of the story is simply not w give up on
