Tha North Coast Forest Cistrict (ONC) Small Scale Salvage Program's {SSSP} pro-
posed Major Amendment to tha Small Qusinass Forest Enterprise Program's
(SBFEP} Forast Devalopment Pian (FOP) will be available for public viewing from
Novembar 22, 2002 through January 22, 2003, during the hours of B:30 am, to 4:30
p.m. Manaay to Friday at tha ONG office located at 125 Markel Place, Prince
Rupart, BC, V8J #89. A full copy of the plan amendment will also be made available
for raviaw atthe Princa Rupert Library during business hours.

This Major Amendment to the FOP delails proposed forest management activities to
be undertaken by tha SSSP over a 5-yoar period beginning January 1, 2001 to
Dacember 31, 2005. The amendment consists of interpratative taxt providing infor.
mation on timber salvago activilles and procedures within the ONC, Cancurrent with
this opportunity for public review; the amendment will also be refered to and
reviewed by a number of rasourca and environmental agencies and interest groups

Environmental Assessment

As responsible authority under the Canadian
Environmental Assessment Act, the Habitat Enhancement
Branch of Fisheries and Qceans Canada is conducting an
environmental assessment regarding the proposed
upgrade of the Nisga’a Highway by the Ministry of
Transportation. The section of highway is located betwean
New Aiyansh and Greenville from the fava beds to
Kwinyarh Creek. The scope of the project will be elevation
of the road level, widening and straightening of the
highway, and replacement of stream crossing structures.
The total area of fish habitat loss will be 6,663 square
metres, which would be authorized on condition of
completion of compensatory habitat enchancement.

Any concerns regarding this project or requests for
additional information can ba directed to the Terrace DFO
