In the three-team girls’ -double-round-robin series, Naomi Mio of Smithers had a perfect four-win, no-loss record against teams from Kitwanga and Prince Rupert. On the boys’ five-team, round-robin series, Atlin’s Clinton Able and Smithers’ Brad Leroux each had three-win, no-loss records when they met in the final game. Atlin’ won the title on a 6-4 victory. Both winning teams go to Nanaimo in March for B.C. finals. Not Wendy’s day at Scott Tournament It was not Wendy Atchison’s year for the B.C, Scott Tourna- ment of Hearts provincial curl- ing title. The veteran Prince Rupert curler wound up the 10-team, round-robin series of zone winners with a record of three wins and six losses. At- chison was never really in it — she had one win against three losses on the opening two days on Jan. 27 weekend at Juan De Fuca. The Kelly Atkins rink of Haney won the title on an eight- win, one-loss mark, giving her a trip to Ottawa for the national championship starting Feb. 24. Coming events in | regional sports The Kitimat Curling Club is hosting its second bonspiel at Tamitik, March 2 to 4. It’s a fun spiel and you can enter by con- tacting Judy Freeman at 632-2600. Curlers are also in- vited to take free curling instruc- tion at Tamitik from 1 to 3 p.m. every Monday this month. Alcan’s family cross-country ski marathon is Sunday the 10th at South Hirsh Creek Park. Registration is 9 a.m. Races start at 10. AC.S.A. touring card for $3 is required.
