~2.- PROJECT COST ESTIMATE POTENTIAL GRANT a. Coast Meridian Road (Westminster to Prairie) $450,000 $225,000 Db. Mary Biil Road (Genstar's frontage) $861,000 $408 , 000 Westwood/Kitchener Intersection Realignment $430,000 $134,000 d. East half of Westwood (Kingsway to Christmas Way) . $840,000 $340,000 The Committee selected Mary Hill Road as the first priority because of the poor condition and the potential for high maintenance costs and liability exposure fo the City. The second Priority is the east half of Westwood. Council should note that the Province has already approved a grant to the District of Coquitlam to have their half of the road upgraded. The Committee felt that it would make little sense not to Capitalize on the benefits of doing both sides of the road at the same time. As part of the upgrading of our half of Westwood it is proposed that the existing sub-standard waterline be upgraded to the ultimate size planned for this area. The reason for recommendation 2 above is because the District is currently finalizing the design on their half of the road. Again, the Committee felt that it would not be in the best interest of the City to wait until May or June next year when the budget is finalized before commencing the design work on the City’s half of the road. Regardless or whether or not Council decides to proceed with this project next year, the design work will be of use to the City. One final bit of relevant information is that the four roads considered are all DCC projects. AS to the funding for Recommendation 2 above, the City Treasurer is in agreement that it should come from the 1990 Unallocated Public Works Capital Budget. T.M. Ghong, P.
