THE CORPORAIION OF THE Giiy UF Pui Kuuiuaain MEMORANDUM TO: Leisure Activities Committee _ October 27th, 1976 FROM: V.G. Borch, P. Eng. Re: Proposed Mary Hill Park at. Western Drive & Eastern Drive This memorandum will confirm the discussions which took place at the meeting of the Leisure Activities Committee Tuesday, October 26th, 1976. As you are aware, the Committee ‘placed an amount of $45,000.00 in the 1976 Provisional Budget for the development of this park. The proposed development included double tennis courts, parking lot, playground area, and complete landscaping. The submission did not survive the ruthless cuts that took place during the finalization of the 1976 Budget. . It has been suggested that because of Ccuncil's recent change in policy governing the acquisition of parks land and the development of parks and parks facilities, it would be opportune to re-submit this proposed park development for Council approval. The funds, in accordance with Council's recently adopted policy, could come from the new Parks Devel~ opment Fund which receives contributions from each new residential dwelling unit. I would estimate that an amount of $50,000.00 will be needed to proceed with this work this winter and that if we commenced the work this winter the tennis court construction and the landscaping could take place in the spring of 1977. It is my understanding that this request will be for- “warded to Council for approval. v.G. Borch,/P. Eng., City Engineer.
