Eng., Deputy City Engineer A. de Boer, EIT, Project Engineer Delegation: Grant Anderson - Lidstone, Young and Anderson ITEM I: CONFIRMATION OF MtNt7IVS The Minutes of the Environmental Protection Comndttee Meeting held on Wednesday, December 2, 1992 were considered, read and adopted. X@BE PLAN CANLDA Corrunittee received a letter from Forestry Canada regarding the 1993 Tree Plan Canada Program. The program provides funding to groups interested in planting trees. The funding for the program is provided through Canada's Green Plan. Committee recommended that this information be forwarded to the Parks Supervisor for consideration. ITEM HB PURCHASE OF CERAItBC MUGS FOR COFFEE ROOM Committee received a memo from the Project Technician dated December 9, 1992 on the purchase of ceranuc mugs for the City Hall coffee room. The memo recommended that 60 ceramic mugs be purchased for the coffee room at a cost of $ 80.00. Committee agreed with the recommendation and directed that staff proceed with the purchase through a local purchase order. Committee agreed with the recommendation to make an application to the Ministry of Environment for a 1/3 capital grant for the 1993 Program which is to go towards the purchase of 2000 home compost bins for Port Coquitlam residents. ITEM Vt RESTRICTIVE COVENANT CW. LANDS — Committee received for information a memo from the Project Engineer dated December iCi, 1992 on the Restrictive Covenant - C.P. Lands. The memo outlined the present position of staff with respect to the C.P. covenant. Committee recommended that C.P. be asked to consolidate the contaminated parcel with the remaining C.P. Rail Yards. With consolidation there would be no need for the restrictive covenant. lf this option is approved by C.P. it was recommended that this item be returned to committee and then to committee of council for consideration. ILCCpactor Bin Purchase Committee considered a memo from the Project Engineer dated December 10, 1992 regarding purchase of compactor bins for the recycling transfer station. Committee agreed with the recommendation to purchase two compactor bins at a cost of $ 7,500 each plus taxes from Smitty's Disposal The funds for tltis purchase are to come from funds previously allocated for the transfer station access bridge. 2. Kilmer School Dron-off Area Committee asked staff to find out what Port Coquitlam schools do with their recyclable materials at the present time.
