14. Terrace Review — Wednesday, December 2, 1987 Two high calibre musicians, expert percussionist Bob Caldwell (left) and composer-keyboardist Edwin Dolinski - (right) merge their talents to create “Current Figures" — a duo that creates a symphony of computer-enhanced harmony that delights students and adults alike. In a performance designed to encourage active listening and au- dience participation, Current Figures takes the audience on a journey from the every day life of simple computers - to an Inspirational world of vivid auditory imagery. Current Figures entertalned students at Stewart Elementary and Secondary Schools and Kitwanga Elementa ryiunior Secondary before “setting up” at the R.E.M. Lee Theatre | Excellence gets its reward at Thornhill Junior High | THORNHILL — In order to give special recognition to students who excell, the staff of Thornhill - Junior Secondary School have implemented a pro- gram, to reward student achieve- ment and effort. : The 33 students who made first term Honour Roll or Honourable Mention, will . be taken out to Mount Layton Hot Springs. For second term, plans are being made for a skiing trip to Smithers (organized by Miss - Murdoch and Mr. Corp) for students who make Honour Roll or Honourable Mention, as well as-for students who show major improvements. ; ' - Tom Hamakawa, Principal of Thornhill Junior Secondary School, said that student reac- tion to this has’ been very positive. Many students who were close to Honour Roll and others who haven’t done quite as well, are indicating that they are really going to make that “‘extra’’ effort this second term. The staff are pleased with this _ idea. because it enables the ’ school to recognize and to pro- .vide special rewards for the ‘many fine students ‘enrolled in _this school, beyond those who play for school, teams or are members of the band. ’.
