SWAMP SPARROW (Melospiza georgiana) — This
secretive little bird is about the size of a house
sparrow but is more slender, Plumage coloration
is predominately brown and gray with a gray head
and chestnut cap. It haunts ‘the borders of marshes
where willow, alder and marsh reeds grow. Like
most sparrows, it spends its time close to or on
the ground, foraging in the dense undergrowth.
The nest,-a well-made structure of dead grasses
and fibre, is on the ground or a few inches above
