Urs, ™munism has of fen Widely used by the capitalist class to make it difficult for many people to see that those things they want most such as peace, and independence, are best fought for by the Communists. This is the main factor tending to limit the Communist vote. But even taking this into account, there are substantial numbers of voters who do consciously agree with the Communist position, but who hesitate to vote for our can- didates, because, on the basis of elections in the cold war period, they have come to assume that we can’t be elect- ed. If all who feel this way, would cast off the don’t- waste-your-vote baggage, and vote Communist, they would find cause for both surprise and satisfaction on election night. It must be emphasized that every vote east for a Com- munist candidate is a power- ful demonstration for new na- tional policies which would Put Canada First. The larger that vote, the more will the reactionaries be dismayed, and the more will all progres- sive forces be encouraged to take confidence in the possi- bilities for far reaching chan- ges in the political life of our country. This poster... . issued by the Communist Party in, British Columbia is being widely posted in the constituencies of Vancouver East, Vancouver South and Comox-Alberni, where Communist candidates are run- ning. In two colors, red and black, with a picture of the candidate and his name, the poster is attracting wide attention. It is considerably reduced in size on this page. Ser. 1962—PACIFIC, TRIBUNE—Page 5
