SUBJECT: Award of Contract ~ Reroofing "New" Arena

Recommendaticna:
lL. That the tendez submitted by Continental Roofing in the amount of

$106,859.83 (including G.S.T.) for the application of a 4 ply Type IV
glass ply sheet asphalt and gravel over insulation be accepted for

this contract.

2, That $106,859.83 be allocated from the Parks and Recreation Capital
monies carried forward from 1991.

Background and Comments ¢

Money was approved in the 1991 Capital budget to reroof the "new" arena. The
decision was made on the advice of a roofing Consultant to remove the existing
reofing material and replace it in its entirety and to increase the insulation
value at the same time. As a result, costs came in higher than originally
anticipated. However, funds have been held over from 1991 to cover the quoted

costs.

Nine firms bid on the option to apply a 4 ply Type IV glass ply sheet asphalt
and gravel over insulation membrane. Continental Roofing was the low bid and

is being recommended to be awarded the contract to complete the job.

Funds were set aside and are
still available from our
1991 accounts for this project.
