Since the trial in the Mary Hill area conducted by Canus,
the Committee has become aware of two alternative sources of
SUPP!ly of a container. Unfortunately, the containers do not
use the same type of Jift mechanism so that it is not possible
to allow the residents the option of choosing the most
competitive service. The City, if it gets into this service,
must make a decision of one Type of container and then stick
with it. The City would be Subject to criticism {t# an
agreement were entered into with one company without allowing
other companies to prove that they could not provide a better
deal for the City and the residents. That is the reason for
the recommendation to call for proposals.
