INTER OFFICE MEMO LL.D. Pollock DATE: March 1, 1978 City Administrator R.G. Criggie Senior By-Law Officer SUBJECT: Pile of Tree Stumps Complaint was received from a Mrs. Emicia Eichler, 2065 Shaughnessy Street, Port Coquitlam, that "rodents" were seen coming from a large pile of "tree stumps" located on property belonging to J.K. Cooper Real Estate in Port Coquitlam, B.C. Mr. Max Ratner and the undersigned checked the area and noted signs of “rodents" were visible and that pile of tree stumps may be used for a breeding ground, although no "rodents" were seen by either Inspector at time of our inspection. This was pointed out to the complainant, however she insisted the “rodents" were there and that the stumps should be removed. In the fall of 1977 the writer informed the present owner J.K. Cooper who purchased the property from A.A. Erskine, that the stumps should be removed and the area Cleaned up. However, Mr. Frank Findlay of J.K. Cooper Real Estate attended at City Hall, Stating they had just purchased the property and that it was too wet” to remove the stumps. It was suggested perhaps they could apply to the City for a burning permit during the period permitted, however, Mr. Findlay forgot to make application at that time. This area must be cleaned up and the stumps either burned or removed by truck which would be very costly. I spoke to Fire Chief Bill Wingrove and he advised he could not see any reason why the stumps could not be burned. Could I have your directions in this matter? -G, igg Senior By-Law Officer
