March 10th, 1975 A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chamber, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2272 McAllister Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B. C. on March 10th, 1975 at 7:30 p-n. His Worship Mayor J.M. Campbell, Aldermen J.J. Keryluk, G.R. Laking, E.W. Mabbett, P.F. Ranger, M.A. Thompson, and L.M. Traboulay in attendance. Also in attendance were City Clerk R.A. Freeman, City Engineer V.G. Borch, P. Eng., Recreation Director Janna Taylor, Planning Officer Lanson Lee, Fire Chief W.S. Wingrove, Works & Utilities Superintendent G. Ulmer, and Mrs. B.M. Aalten. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Alderman Thompson: Minutes - Mar .3/75 Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the minutes of the regular meeting of this Council held on March 3rd, 1975, be taken as read and adopted. DELEGATTONS: From the Leisure Activities Committee, March 7th, 1975, referring Leisure Ac Conm.re to the fact that the Federal Government has set aside five million Women's In formation dollars for International Women's Year this year, that British Columbia Centre-rep in attend-— received eighty thousand dollars which will be used for different studies ance and grants, and that a group of women in Port Coquitlam have recently applied for a grant to set up an Information Centre in Port Coquitlam. The Committee also submitted supportive information with its report and advised that discussion had taken place for use of the old Centennial Concession in which to conduct the Information Centre, which facility is used once a year during the Kinsmen's Sports Carnival. The Committee, in its report, further advised that the group is willing to upgrade the inside of the building at their cost. Mrs. Marcia Green acted as spokesman for tne delegation in attendance and she stated that the Centre would be open to all women in the area and that men were welcome to drop in as well. Alderman Mabbett advised that at present the facility is not heated, and on examining the premises with the Parks Superintendent, had determined that the cost of instailing electrical heating and some maintenance work would be between $300.00 and $400.00.
