When someone you know has to leave because it’s . that time in their life when a change should be made, friends left behind are sad- dened to see that special person go. In November we said our sad goodbyes to a very Special lady and wonderful friend who left Terrace after 33 years for Coquil- lam. 1 am sure many of you living in the Terrace area came to know this beauti- ful and caring lady: “Miss Kim”. Miss Eulran Kim was born Dec. 20, 1919 in Seoul, Korea. Her father, Chiku, worked like a notary pub- lic, helping others with | legal papers and writing letters. He also ran a small farm, with her mother Mooim, and a family of six children, four girls and two boys. They are all gone now, except for a younger sis- ter, still living in Korea. Miss Kim did all her schooling in Korea. After graduating from high school, she went on to train at the Seoul Red Cross nursing school. From there she graduated at the top of the class, with hon- ours, as a registered nurse. Miss: Kim was hired on as the head nurse in charge of the operating room-in’ the Seoul Red Cross haspital. : EULRAN KIM in 1967 Ses receiving the Nightingale Medal for wartime service, After the war, in 1946, she became director of nursing, She later went to work as the director of nursing at Seoul city hos- pital, where the admin- istrator told her about his son, a radiologist at Prince George Hospital.
