Little hosted 15 University of - Mfictoria students, all of whom hail from the Terrace-Kiti- Mmat-Smithers area. All told there are 19 Terrace students, Bkwo Kitimat students and two Smithers students attending _ of Victoria but on fhe evening of the get-together, four were unable to participate. Rebecca Kenney of Terrace as- sisted Mr. Little in contacting the students. Macinnes as Director of Public Relations in the British Colum- bia Telephone Company is an- nounced by J. Ernest Richard- son, Company President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr, Macinnes graduated from the University of British Col umbia in 1950 with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in mechanical engineering and began his career with B.C.TEL in June of the same year. By me une 1955 he was Senior Engin- eering Assistant and the follow- ing year he became District Outside Plant Engineer. He be- came Safety ‘Director in 1958. Since August 1963 he has served as Coastal Olvision met Engineering and Construction fe Manager. He is a member of the Asso- Beam ciation of Professional Engin- fm cers of B.C, and of the American Society of Mechanical a Engineers. _/ Special Conference Planned For Growers A special conference on horti- cultural erops will be ‘held at the Lakelse Hotel on Thursday, March 31. : The conference has been espe: cially arranged for Skeena.. and Bulkley Valley growers and for those who may be interested in the commercial production of hor- ticultural crops in the future. There will be a morning session on potato production and an after- noon session covering a wide var- iety of other cash crop opportuni- ties. Numerous speakers will be head during the. event which promises to be well worth attend- ing. . Second Year For SPCA President The annual general meeting of the Terrace sub-branch of the B.C.SPCA was held in St. Matt- hews Anglican Church Hall in Ter- race Wednesday, March 16. Seven persons were present, and four of these were new members. Mrs. Peter Moore agreed to con- tinue in office as president for the ensuing year, and Mrs. ‘Ken- neth Slater offered to carry out]. the duties of secretary-treasurer. Those wishing to become mem- bers, should contact Mrs. Slater who will be pleased to send the membership card for 1966. There were thirty printed post cards distributed fo those present, which are issued by the SPCA, ad- dressed to the grime minister of Canada, to voice disapproval of the inherent cruelty in the seal hunting. It was pointed out that anyone, whether a member of the SPCA or not, is able to write, postage free, to the prime minister registering disapproval. A formal proposal was made by the Rev. Peter Horsfield, and seconded by Mrs. Ross Thompson, and passed unanimously, that the parent body be approached to have a representative visit ‘Terrace within the next year. The meet ing concluded with an infermal exchange of ideas and views relat ing to the problems of animal con- trol existing in Terrace. The day will conclude with a banquet and special guest speaker.
