The City Council views the possible loss of the poe ' New Westminster Land Title Office with great alarm. ee - | Ag you are aware, New Westminster is one of the original che - regional tewn centres identified in the 1974 Liveable Region LE | Plan of the Greater Vancouver Regional District. The City of New Westminster has worked very hard to make its town centre achieve its potential and is pleased with the progress which has occurred to date in cooperation with the Province of en British Columbia. The reconstruction of the New Westminster pe Court House in 1979 is one key element of our regional town | a centre. The location of the New Westminster Land Title Office immediately adjacent to the new Court House is an important linkage in our downtown. In addition, numerous law offices and land title search companies have lecated around | the New Westminster Court House and Land Title Office. ‘The City of New Westminster feels it is most inappropriate to be. consider breaking this linkage which is such an important component of our regional town centre, When the Provincial Government established the First Capital City Davelopment Company Limited in 1978, its mandate was not Seer only to redevelop the waterfront but aiso the downtown. ee {remendous progress was achieved during the life of this oe ee Grown corporation.
