The 1984 FVRL Budget, and hence .the Members’ Library Tax Assessment (LTA), was approved by the Board of Management at their 84 02 15 meeting held in Clearbrook. Port Coquitlam! s LTA for 1984 is $259,443, which is $3,143 less than that paid in 1983. During his “introductory remarks, Mr Jim Craven, Executive, Director of the FVRL, observed that: a) An $380,000 Canada Works Grant contract was signed by the Executive Director and the Federal . Government which will allow the “FVRL to "barcode" books and enter 150, 000 patron records without the necessity of losing branches. The Executive of CUPE local 1698 agreed to the Canada Works project however agreement was _eonditional on the library. not.being closed for two weeks inorder to “balance our budget". it is “quite possible, that there will be some closures throughout the System -— possibly evening closures.
