Re: Amendment to Business Licence By-law

Attached is a copy of By-law No. 1456 which amends the City's

Business Licence By-law by establishing the classification of Automobile Self—

Service Station and we would advise that the form of By-law has been approved

by our Solicitor.
The purpose of the By-law is to differentiate between a normal
service station and a self~service station by placing the self-service station

in a special category. In accordance with Council's statement of policy that

not more than 20% of the total number of gas station outlets in Port Coquitlam

Should be of the self-serve type every application for a business licence for
an "Automobile Self-Service Station" will be referred to the Council for con-
sideration pursuant to Section 455 of the Municipal Act, and, after hearing any

representations that the applicant cares to make, the Council will decide whether

or not the licence shovld be issued.

By~law No. 1456 is available for first three readings.
