SUBJECT: Agricultural Land Reserve
- Exclusion Application 1/82

RECOMMENDATION :

That City Counci! inform the Agricultural Land Commission that;

A) That City Council! [Inform the Agricultural Land Commission that
determining the farming potential of the subject fands is beyond
the City's scope of knowledges.

B) The City's tong term plan is to use Freemont Street, and
Carnoustie Go!lf Course as the division between urban and rural
activities. Land west of Freemount is designated in the draft
Community Plan for industry south of Dominion Avenue and long term
residential development north of Dominion Avenue.

BACKGROUND:

This application to exclude lands west of Freemount was first
submitted to the City in 1980, December IIth. Following
withdrawal of that-first application a second application was
submitted to City Council! in 1982, May !Oth. Shortly after that
the owner's group submitted a letter requesting their appliication
be tabled pending completion of work on the Official Community
Plane Later, the group approached City Council to request
endorsement of their request to prepare a concept plan showing how
they intend to develop their land. At the meeting of City COunci|
held 1983 July Itth, the following motion was passed:

"That City Council inform the owners of the subject

land that Council does not object to their preparing
concept plans showing alternative uses of their land, for
the purposes of identifying development costs, so that
City Council and the owners can make decisions about the
are's future." .
