FIVE STAR COMMITTEE A meeting of the Five Star Committee was held hi the Parks & Recreation Office on April 28, 1994 at 8:00 a.m. In attendance were Councillor Ron Talbot and Janr~ Taylor, Parks dt Recreation Director. Item No. I Mission Statement The Parks and Recreation Diirector reviewed the proposed structure and composition of the Committee (attached). It was suggested that the mission statement and the terms of reference be reviewed over the next couple of weeks. If members agree with the mission statement and the terms of reference then they would be taken to Councg. Recommendation: That the mission statement and the terms of reference be taken to City Council for approval, once the Conunittee has had an opportunity to thoroughly review the mission statement and terms of reference. Item No. 2 Wheelchair Accessibility - Taxis The Committee reviewed the memorandum froin the Recreation Manager/Deputy Director to the City Clerk and no response was received. The Parks and Recreation Director suggested that another memorandum be sent inquiYing about whether there is a bylaw requiring taxi companies to have a wheelcha!r accessible taxi. Also, to get the names of the taxi compsiues and write to them inquiring whether they have taxis that are wheelchair accessible. Recommendation: Item No. 3 Disabled Parking The Committee reviewed the attached memorandum from the Recreation Manager/Deputy Director. Reconunendation: To again write to Public Works requesting a trial period of painting disabled parking spots blue with the white disabled symbol in the centre.
