A6é - The Terrace Standard, Wednesday, May 22, 1996 Polls open at 8 a.m, May 28 Here’s where to vote IF YOU won't be around May 28 to cast your vote on election day, don’t worry, Beginning today and lasting until May 25, Elections B.C. has set up advance voting stations at Veritas School here in Terrace and at River Lodge in Kitimat. Each are open from naon to 9 p.m., says Elizabeth Kofoed, the district electoral officer for the Skeena riding. And those manning the advance voting stations are the lip of what'll be a contingent of more than 150 people un- der Kofoed’s command leading up to, including and beyond election day. There'll be 17 voting locations set up throughout the riding during election day, These are the Cedarvale Museum in Cedarvale, the Gilanyow Band Council chambers in Gitanyow, the Gitwangak Band Council chambers in Gitwangak, the recteation centre at Kemano and the fire hall at Kitamaat Village. : In Kitimat there are two voting places at Mount Elizabeth Secondary School and Riverlodge Cammunity Centre, Voters at Kitsumkalum can cast their ballots at the com- Taunity hall and in Kitwanga at the curling rink, There will be a voting station at Mount Layton Hotspr- ings, one at the community association hall in Rosswood, one at the Thornhill Community Centre and one at the An- chors Away Farm in Usk. In Terrace, voters will either be going to the Elks Hall, the Webber residence at Copperside, at Uplands School or at Veritas School. Voters will be receiving cards in the mail informing them of their voting place. The polls on May 28 open up at 8 a.m, and close at 8 p-m. Voting is traditionally heavy in the early evening hours leading up to & p.m. so voting officials encourage people as many people as possible to turn out earlier. Kofoed is also establishing mobile polling units who'll visit institutions on May 27 for the convenience of people who can't make it out May 28, In Kitimat, the mobile polling units are going to Kitimat General Hospital and to Kiwanis Village. In Terrace, the units are going to Mills Memoria] Hospi- tal, Terraceview Lodge and The Willows. They'll also be visiting the regional correctional centre.
