Terrace | building permits issued TERRACE—The month of May has seen the beginning of construc- tion which will take place all summer long. by Philip Musselman According to statistics, 20 building permits were issued for the month of May with a total value of about $418,500 in construction value. Here is a breakdown of these permits: Four permits were issued for dwelling units (houses) totalling about $374,600 in construction value; three dwelling renovation/addition per- mits were issued totalling about $10,000 in value; three carport/garage permits were issued totalling about $20,500 in value; one sundeck/ misc, permit was issued valued at $1000; five greenhouse/misc. per- mits were issued valued at $3400 total; three chimney/woodstove- /misc. permits were issued valued at $6000 total; and there was one Industrial Commercial renovation/addition per- mit issued which was valued at $3000. Sundecks, green- houses, and chimneys/ woodstoves are all counted as miscellaneous permits. General manager Mel Bevan said that they were hoping to get a lot of response from the public. Election of officers TERRACE — Native Communications Society-Northern Broad- casting held their first annual meeting on May 22. General manager for the society Mel Bevan, said that an election of new executives priorised the meeting. Emma Williams from Burns Lake was elected president; vice-president is George Asp of Telegraph Creek and Nelson Leeson from Greenville for Secretary Treasurer. Bevan encour-. ages residents to come and see how community radio works. Bevan will be accompanied by radio technician Robert Goulet from the Department of Secretary of State. Northern Broadcast- ing will be starting their journey June 12 and 13 in Greenville, Hazelton June 23 and 24, followed by Burns Lake June 25 and 26, Iskut,:- June 30 and July 1. July 3 and 4 will be spent in Harver Post ending at Dease Lake on July 6 and 7. They will return home on July 7.
