That the Public Works Committee approve the installation of a fence on City property. BACKGROUND: A request was made by the ownera of the multi-family complex at 1238 Bastern to allow the construction of a wood fence on road right-of- way. Attached is a sketch prepared by the owner that shows the location of the proposed fence. fhe proposed fence will be placed along the existing sidewalk on the weat side of Eastern. Currently the ground slopes down from the gidewalk, the owner wishes to keep the fence above sidewalk grade to allow for more privacy to the individual units. CONSIDERATIONS Ag the ground slopes steeply away from the sidewalk (see attached aketch for location), it may be in the City's best interest to put a fence at the top of the slope if for any other reason is that it will not end up being an area to dump refuse and the City will not have to maintain the slope.
