2. This proposal has been reviewed by program and maintenance staff. Although staff are certainly supportive of the proposal in general terms, a number of concems were raised that are worthy of consideration. A) Lights would have to be placed in mutually agreeable locations, safe from vandalism and damage, and not easily accessed by the public. B) Upon installation, it is suggested that the equipment be turned over to the City. This way the City would be responsible for the regular maintenance and repair and would be better able to deal with last minute problems. The lights should also be booked by the City. We would then know who is scheduled to use them and when. Recommendations: To realize the benefits of having four spotlights located in the Old Arena, I would recommend: 1) That the Port Coquitlam Figure Skating Club proposal be approved, provided that the lights are installed in a mutually agreeable location with the Parks and Recreation Committee having final approval, and That upon installation the lights are turned over to the City of Port Coquitlam. { 4 Fda.
