Brown Director of Planning Text Amendment to the M=] zone RECOMMENDATION: That the Clerk's Office be directed to prepare a by aw amending the Zoning Bylaw No.2240, Section 1001 M-1 Generals Industrial, Subsection (3) Location and Extent of Permitted Uses, Clause (aj) Accessory Offices. Revising the percentage of floor space permitted for use as accessory offices from ten percant to thirty percent. COMMENTS: In operating under the new industrial zones for the past six months, some fine Tuning requirements has come to the Planning Department's attention. The proposed. change to the amount of accessory office is the only substantive problem encountered. ln reviewing industrial development trends, it appears that a larger component of industry is taking place in what can be best described as office, An example would be most of the computer industry, were work station are desks with computer Terminals. In conelusion this amendment to the M-1, Industrial! zone increasing the office Space permitted is recommended. The rationale for this recommendation is changes to the character of industry.
