RESOLUTIONS
RINAL DATE FOR THE RECEIPT OF RESOLUTIONS BY THE U.B.C.M. OFFICE IS

FRIDAY, June 22nd. TWENTY (20) COPIES OF EACH RESOLUTION ARE RECUIRED,

Resolutions should follow the general format now used in the U.B.C.M.
Resolutions Books for previous years, and include:

- <A brief descriptive title.

~ The name of the Sponsoring Municipality or Regional Distriot,

~ The name of the endorsing Area Association, if such endorsation
has been obtained.

Fach resolution should be prepared on a sepurate sheet,
Supporting information concerning specific problem areas or reasons for
resolutions may te included or attached as appropriate.

NOTE: Ordinary resolutions received after June 22nd will be returned
to the sponsoring members who May vesubmit them as late resolu—
tions.

LATE RESOLUTIONS

late resolutions will be accepted by the Executive Director, U.B.C.Me,
up to 5:00 p.m. Friday, August 3lat, 1979.

FIVE HUNDRED (500) COPIES OF LATE RESOLUTIONS ARE REQUIRED.

Members are reminded that the U.B.C.M. Executive will only consider late
resolutions the subject matter of which is such that they could not have
been submitted as ordinary resolutions by the normal deadline date.

VOTING RIGHTS

All delegates who axe elected representatives of member municipalities
or regional districts are entitled to vote.

Delegates who are appointed officials of member municipalities or re~
gional districts are entitled to the privilege of the floor but may not
vote.

No vote by proxy is recognized or allowed.

NOMINATING PROCEDURE

In order for all delegates to be aware of the Convention procedure govern-'
ing election of U.B.C.H. Executive members, the following two aspects are
set out:

1. Appointments by Area Associations _

Under Clause 3(b) of the U.B.C.M. By-laws, each Area Association and
the City of Vancouver shall appoint one person who shall be the Dix
ector representing that Association or City on the U.B.C.M. Executive.
Such appointments are made by the five Area Associations and the Van—
couver City Council and the name of the person appointed should be
"Communicated to the Chairman, Nominating Committee, c/o U.B.C.M.
' Office, {204 - 604 Blackford Street, New Westminster, B.C. V3M 1R6.

2, Other Nominations

The following Executive positions are open for election during the
dnnual Convention:

1.- President
1 ~ First Vice President
1 ~ Second Vice President
1 - Honourary Secretary-Treasurer
1 - Village Representative
1 - Electoral Area Representative
3 - positions of Director (at large).

In order to ensure that the Nominating Committee receive names covering
all of the Province, the Presidents ef each of the five Area Associations
have been requested to submit names, approved at meetings of the respect~
ive organizations, to the Chairman of the Nominating Committee well be~
fore the start of the Convention. Corresponience concerning such nom-
inations should be addrossed to tho Chairman, Nominating Committee, o‘o
