the eae Giesbrecht named highways r minister DON’T EXPECT Helmut Giesbrecht to make any major changes in his new job as highways minister. With just weeks before an expected provincial election, Giesbrecht, named as highways mini- ster Feb. 15, said he'll be overseeing large projects already underway. “There’s the Lions Gate Bridge Project and the need to improve the high- way from Cache Creek to the Rockies, particularly around Revelstoke,” said Giesbrecht just hours after his swearing in ceremony. Giesbrecht replaces southern interior MLA Harry Lali who resigned from his cabinet post two weeks apo, citing a differ- ‘ence of opinion with the way Premier Ujjal Dosanjh is running the province and apposition to the three- year ban on grizzly bear hunting.
