Tomorrow night the Muf- flers take on boy’s team Safeway while Kitwanga have the easier looking task against Dairy Queen. With three wins in their last four games, Norm’s Auto has made an impressive charge but likely just too late. _ There’s another nailbiter in Midget Girls. where only two points cover all three teams al- though leader Overwaitea also has a game in hand, They go up against Bandstra tomorrow night at Riverside looking for the win that will cinch the title, In PeeWee Girls, Middleton Trucking has hit the brakes in recent games, taking only two points from their last three. Kermode Friendship Centre has taken advantage, scoring three wins and a tie in. their last five to get within striking distance. In the remaining two divi- sions the titles are already de- cided so the only remaining question is whether Almwood (Squirt Boys) and Tanner Drywall (Bantams) can put the finishing touches to perfect, unbeaten seasons, But there’s a traffic jam when it comes to the runner- up spot in the Bantams, AM 59 has a single point ‘lead over Blue Ridge Ventures Rugger rivalry THE NORTH Coast Rugby Union league title could be going down to the final whistle of the season. With both clubs emerging victorious from the SeaFest series, the Terrace Northmen and Smithers Camels temained deadlocked going into fast Sunday’s action here. Still feeling the effects of a bruising double-header June 3- 4 against the Camels, the Northmen took on host club Prince Rupert in the Seafest opener, Fielding one of their strongest sides of the season, Rupert proved no walkover this time, opening the scoring with a converted try off.a five metre scrum. The Northmen replied in kind when Graham Bayles “went over in the ‘far comer from a set piece and Willie - McCleary split the uprights, McCleary struck again on a penalty before the break to leave the Northmen 10-7 up at the half. The narrow margin dis- appeared early in the second on a Rupert penalty but from there Terrace turned it on. Gaining possession from a line-out on the Rupert 20 metre line, the Northmen took the play across the field setting up Bayles for his second going to the wire plunge in the comer. Good ball handling by the Terrace backs then set up Reb Richdale’s major and Paul Schulte added another off a five metre scrum for a 25-10 final. That put the Northmen atop the league tables but it was shortlived., Smithers’ victory over Rupert the following afternoon left the Camels and Northmen tied at five wins cach, Smithers having played one less game. Which made Sunday afternoon’s Terrace-Smithers meeting critical for the Northmen (see the Stop Press on page A2 for the results), A Northmen victory would leave them a game clear with one left against each. of Smithers and Prince Rupert. - and the Camels holding a game in hand, A Camels victory would realistically end the Northmen’s chances of retain- . ing a league title they have come to regard as their’s by divine right. This weekend the Northmen play Rupert Saturday evening while the Camels take on the coastal team Sunday aftemoon. Both are being played here, at the Northwest Community College pitch, Look Twice. : Tonight - : MITES (Cassie Hall 6 p.m.) Centennial Lions v Bridon Installations SQUIRTS (Cas.Hall 7:15pm.)
