TERRACE — Terrace RCMP crime prevention officer Ewen Harvie announced this week that the community anti-shoplifting campaign will continue as part of National Crime Prevention Week. Harvie said the program will primarily be directed at Grade 7 students in local schools, *‘Statistics have shown that ap- proximately 50 percent of shoplifters are between the ages of H1 and 15 years old,”” he said. The campaign is designed to discourage theft among young people by showing them the con- sequences of being caught. Har- vie will discuss police and court procedures and the implications of having a criminal record, and the discussion will be illustrated with a short video that shows the arrest trauma in detail. Harvie said the Terrace pro- gram is the only one of its kind in the province and it will soon . come under evaluation by -the Ministry of the Attorney Gen- eral.
