DEAR ABBY: I'm a 26-year-old single man. Last year ~
fell in love with a 19-year-old girl I'll call Laura. I moved iz
with her and everything was fine until we got into a dumb
argument and I broke her nose, She kicked me out, and
refused to have anything more to do with me. I really Joved
her and begged for another chance, but she changed her
phone number and the locks on her doors and told me if 1
ever came near her she'd call the police. ;

Well, about five months later I heard that Laura was
pregnant, so I went to her and told her I wanted to face up ta
the responsibility of fatherhood, but she said the baby’
wasn't mine, and she wanted no part of me.

After Laura had the baby, 1 went to the welfare people
(they paid for the delivery) and Lhey wouldn't tell me a
thing! Not even if my name was on the baby's birth cer-
tificate. I couldn't believe it. Here 1 was trying to assume
full responsibility for my child, and I wasn't allowed to.

[finally went toa lawyer to find out if [had some rights as
a father, The lawyer said, “Not as long as the mother denies
that you are the father!” .

Now I'm trying to prove that I'm the father. I've taken
bload Lests, but Laura refuses to talk to me Abby. If {'m the

father, and I'm sure ]am, [ have as much right to bea partof |

that baby's life as Laura has. What can I do about it?

with the law can tell you what your rights are. If you aren't

_ DEAR ABBY: 1am a 14-year-old boy and I think my sister
is gay. She is 12 and so is her “friend.” My sister and her
friend, who is also a neighbor, are always together. They
take showers and baths together, and even go to the
bathroom together!

They dress alike and call each other before they leave for
school in the morning to see what the other one is wearing.
They go to school together and come home together,

They sleep together at least once a week.

Me and the neighbors think it is sick. Should I tell my
parents or what?

suspect because you're probably wrong. Some girls—if
they're lucky—have a best friend with whom they form a
very close relationship, They're inseparable — like “lovers,”
but it’s not a love affair, only a warm friendship.

DEAR ABBY: ] am a 25-year-old Army man stationed in
South Korea. I've been here for a year and have another
year and a halfto go. Life isn't easy in Chis outfit. We're on
24-hour guard, We eat out of cans and sleep in tents and stay
combat-ready at all times.

When there's mail call, you should see those young
soldiers run to see if they gol anything. Abby, it is sad to see
so much repeated disappointment us they hang their heads
and slowly walk away empty-handed.

Why don’t Americans who have relatives and friends in
Korea write to these kids? I've never seen such a bunch of
forgotten soldiers anywhere. Some of Lhese puys are 17 and
18, and have never been away from home before.

I'm lucky. My people write to me often, and my Mom even
sends me edokies which I share with my buddies. ,

Abby, you wouldn't believe how one letter from hame can
make a rough day better. Please ask your readers to write-
to their young men in the service wherever they are, but
especially in Korea. .

And don't ever stop writing your column, We get it in the
Stars and Stripes and the Korean Times, too. You are the
only contact some of these soldiers have with home. Love
