For the beginner, and sometimes even for the expert, one
_ of the most difficult parts-of a backpacking trip Is deciding
what to take along, I've seen several books on camping and —
backpacking that attempt to help out by giving exhaustive |
Ilats and detailed advice, but I’m notsure if these are more of
a hindrafice than a help. The beginner could use the advice,
but geta confused by the ‘lengthy lists, while the expert
already has his own deeply “digrained opinions and —
prejudices, so heis not too likely to listen anyhow. .

Whether, beginner jor ,expert, ‘hoyever, Finnlauping igo
iniportant, equipment is important, and if you don't have a
photographic memory, a checklist can be a great ald in
packing, Here is one such checklist you might want to con-
