THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM 5 1979 TO: Mayor and Council November 1979 FROM: Planning and Zoning Committee Re: Official Regirnal Plan (ORP) Update —- Dominion/Lougheed Triangle Further to the meeting of Council with GVRD staff on the subject matter, the Planning and Zoning Committee called another meeting with the area residents and land owners on October 26th, 1979. The Committee advised that two options are open to the land owners relative to the ORP update and its effect on the Dominion/Lougheed Triangle. One is to make application fox removal of the triangle from ALR prior. to adootion of the new ORP by the Regional District, whereby the "INDUSTRIAL" .. designa’.ion can continue without conflicts with the B.C. Agri- -cultural Land.Commission. The other option is to accept-the new ORP designation of "AGRICULTURAL" for the area and wien the land is ready for development in the future, avplication can then be made to change the status of the area. This, however, requires separate applications to GVRD and the-B.c. Agricultural Lend Commission to deal with the ORP designation and the ALR designation respectively. . The Committee also advised that it is the Committee! s opinion that if an application is made now for removal of the. ‘triangle £from AUR, the chance cf success is likely to be extremely ‘remote, particularly in view of the recent controversy over the Langley application. After considerable discussion, except Mr. and Mrs. Albrecht of 590 Dominion Avenue, the rest of the land owners had expressed no objections to or reservations on an application. - now for removal of the lands from ALR.
