Split into groups of younger and older players due to capacity regulations at the hall, it was the pre-novice, novice, atoms with moms, dads and coaches in the early group. Later they cleared the hall and brought in the peewees, bantams and midgets. All the youngsters in the pre- novice sectiqn (four-to-six) were awarded mini-trophies. This en- tire division was sponsored by Spee-Dee Printers, and played on three teams. The novice division had five teams.. Elks placed first, fol- lowed in order by Legion, Doyles’ Trucking, Long’s Log- ging and Wilkinson Canons. For atom division, Tilden won the league while Centennial Lions took the playoffs. The atom reps won the inter-city league playoff. Special awards went to Gor- don Wells as most improved _ player overall and Brent Tugwell as most inspirational player (Armstrong Memorial Trophy). overall, A special award for being most inspirational coach went to Orest Chalupiak. - Rotary won both the league and playoffs for peewee divi- sion. The division Most Im- proved Overall Player award went to Ronnie Cullis. The Inland Kenworth bantam reps won their division for the inter-city league. It was a three- team league for bantams this season with the reps, Northern Motor Inn and Avco Jets. Northern Motor Inn won both - league and playoffs. The overall improved player was Mike Ken- nedy. We had only one midget team this season (Terrace Totem Ford). They won their inter-city league division. The list of numerous Esso medal winners, which were pre- sented by Terrace Esso’s Tony Vincenzi, can be found in this week’s scoreboard. : Several special awards were handed out. North team Forty-six players in each of six separate districts received invita- tions to three-day tryout camps where 20 would be named for their district team. . Our area sent 14 youths to Prince George on April 1 weekend, but only three got a’ thumbs up’ from the coaches. The others came from the east- ern end of our district. Following B.C.
