COUNC THE CORPORATION OF THE OCT 1 - 1% CLTY OF PORT COOUITLAM TO: B.R. Kirk DATE: September 27, 1990 City Administrator FROM: Igor Zahynacz, P. Eng. City Engineer SUBJECT: Petition for Sidewalk on Prairie, East of Cedar (Public Works/Traffic Comittee Meeting - September 25, 1990) Recommendation: That as developments in Riverwood would be required to install sidewalks along the southside of Prairie as part of the Development servicing requirements, that the requests for the City to construct the sidewalk on Prairie Avenue at this time be denied. Background & Comments: The Public Works/Traffic Committee considered the attached memorandum from the Project/Traffic Technician regarding the petition for the installation of a sidewalk on both sides of Prairie Avenue from Cedar Drive to Rae Street. The Committee noted that there is a painted white line for a sidewalk on the southside and portions of a sidewalk on the northside of Prairie Avenue. Also it was brought to the Committee's attention that developments in Riverwood which front Prairie Avenue would be required to install sidewalks as part of the Development Servicing requirements. The committee felt it would be more appropriate to wait for the development fronting Prairie to construct the sidewalk on the southside of Prairie Avenue and then consider the needs for additional sidewalks in the area at that time.
