June 23rd, 1975 changes being looked at from the original proposal and inquired whether the City would be getting some information as to the latest developments. The City Engineer advised he had received an indication verbally that a report submitted to the Government will be made available to the City. Alderman Ranger advised that following referral of the proposed Garbage By-law to the Finance Committee, it came back to the Public Works Committee totally perverted - including, among other changes, a $24.00 per year user charge - and on requesting that the Public Works Committee be supplied with the rational therefore and effects of the revisions on various types of operations and uses in the City, was advised this would be done. Alderman Mabbett inquired as to the progress being made by the Greater Vancouver Sewerage & Drainage District in providing a connection from the City's sewage disposal system to the Annacis Island plant, and the City Engineer advised the work is somewhat behind due to encountering more difficulties than expected; however, it is still proceeding. Alderman Mabbett advised that he had attended the City-sponsored Senior Citizens dinner and entertainment earlier today held in the Mabbett Room at the Port Recreation Centre and stated it went very well, with over 400 Senior Citizens in attendance; however, he suggested that the 2~hour parking restriction in the area of the Recreation Centre should be reviewed, because although it was instituted to control commuter parking, it is causing some difficulties to persons going to the Centre in the day time. Alderman Traboulay inquired whether any reply had been received to the City's request that the meetings of the Local Government Restructure Feasibility Study Committee be open to the public, and Aldermen Thompson and Ranger, the City's representatives on the Committee, advised that the request had been rejected. Moved by Aiderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That a letter be sent to Premier David Barrett, M.L.A. for the Coquitlam area, with a copy to The Honourable J.G. Lorimer, Minister of Municipal Affairs - under whose auspices the Committee is operating - requesting that the meetings of the Local Government Restructure Feasibility Study Committee be open to the public forthwith.
