CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM The following is a break-down of the first four months of 1975 as opposed to the. first four months of 1974 for the animal control facilities. During the first four months of 1975 + 174 complaints were received which is --down from 196 during the first four months of 1974 which is refreshing. In addition, 201 dogs were impounded as opposed to 174 in 1974 and in addition, the number of dogs claimed has increased from 95 to 118 in 1975. This shows productive activity by the Inspectors. For the first four months of this year, 94 tickets have been issued as opposed ‘to 48 during 1974. The introduction of this ticket system will undoubtedly assist in animal control for the future. . . Under the headings of dogs destroyed, dead animals Picked up and animals. . destroyed, a.total of 37 dogs were destroyed to the pound as opposed to 26 in 1974. In addition, the dead animals picked up.and the animals destroyed | far exceed those of the previous year, therefore, there is an indication that the irresponsible and reluctant dog owner has not been eradicated in the City of ‘Port. Coquitlam. Application has been made through the City of Port Coquitlam for a grant for the dow cost spay and neuter clinic, to date, no response has been received in respect to this grant. “Operation Tattoo" has commenced compulsory for all animals leaving the shelter on adoption and this Wiil assist in animal control in the City of Port Coguitlam. am \ oe Cc.
