DATE: July 17, 1973

The attached letter was received from the Catholic Family & Children's Service
requesting exemption from taxation for their children's home on Mary Hill Road.
The Committee is not prepared to recommend exemption to Council at this time.
Although the home is supported by Government funds to some extent it is a home
serving quite a large area of the Lower Mainland and not specifically the City
of Port Coquitlam. The City had extended additional tax exenptions to the local
churches, however, this was cut back in 1972 and the Finance Committee feel that
noe further exemptions should be allowed.

The Comaittee recommends that no exemption be provided in this case.
