debilitating disease he thought
he had beat. ;

Fitzpatrick was at home for
more than four months last
season after being diagnosed
with eosinophilia myalgia syn-
drome (EMS) — which causes
swollen ‘limbs and joints.

He was able to play with the
Islanders'' AHL. farm team in
the latter half of the season

Fitzpatrick is now: out of the
lineup indefinitely. He's
undergoing physiotherapy and
will resume treatments of pred-
nisone — a cortisone-like
medication that helped relieve
‘symptoms last year.
