Animators and animation
enthusiasts from around the
world will be on hand as an
international jury chooses
the year's best animated
films. .

Operating in conjunction
with the actual competition
will be many support ac-

tivities in the field of

animation. One of these
events is the ASIFA
Animation Workshop which
will. take place at the

University of Ottawa and

promises to create some

‘lively dynamics, as outlined

on the enclosed release.
Another. highlight will
beast four retrospectives on
the art. and. artists of
animation: Two sessions
will be devoted to the work
of animation pioneers Raoul
Barre. and . Oskar
Fischinger. The National
Film Board’s retrospective
will trace the development
of animation and present a
wide spectrum of archival
material. It will also exhibit
some of the greatest works
of Norman McLaren.

Another retrospective. will.

outline the history and
development of collage and
cut-out animation.
